FIRE AT AVONDALE.
At Avondale, at 4.45 on Sunday morning a fire was discovered in the butcher's shop owned by Mr. J. Binsted. Mr. , Scott, the local saddler, was the firat to . • give the alarm, and along with Mr. F. j Hampshire gave willing assistance in salving the books and the computing scales, and theee, with the addition of a few bags of-salt, was all that was saved. . How the fire originated is a mystery. Mr. .Bineted states that he went round after f, he closed up at 5 o'clock on Saturday, 'and before he retired to bed all was , right. The local constable reports that , just about midnight he went all round the- building and tried each door, and »H was safe. The fire as seen br one neighbour '\vae first noticed by her about 4 o'clock. She states that she saw smoke issuing from the room immediately behind the shop. It is just about twelve ; months ago since Mr. Binsted was a considerable loser by a fire which occurred at his slaughterhouse.
