ITALIAN DESTROYERS ENTER TRIESTE HARBOUR
SINK THE BATTLESHIP WIEN AND RETURN SAFELY. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, December 12. An Italian official message save:—Our light craft on Sunday night penetrating the obstructions above and below water, entered the Austrian naval base at Trieste and discharged four torpedoes against two warshipe of the Monarch dam. All exploded, and tire battleship Wien was sunk, the majority of the crew being caved. Our vessels returned aafely, despite the enemy's attempt to torpedo them and the intense fire which was concentrated on the zone through which they had to paes.—(A. sod N.Z. Cable.)
