FIRE AT EDENDALE.
s . About liooh to-day a six-roomed dwelling house at Edendale was discovered to be en firo. Tlio alarm was promptly given, and lioth the Mount Eden and Kingsland Brigades turned out. The flames, however, had a good hold, and tho building was gutted. The house, which was owned and occupied by Mr. W. G. Edmonds, was insured for £350 j with the Boyal Exchange Co., and was valued at £550. The furniture was covered by an insurance with the New Zealand Company for £250, and is valued at an additional £100. The origin of the fire is a mystery Mr„ Mrs. and Mli» Edmonds work in town, and there •was no fire lit this morning, the tea for breakfast being mado from water boiled on a gas ring. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards left home about 8 a.m., and the daughter an hour later, and at that time there . was no sign of fire, nor had there bceh '-' •nything need hut the gas ring.
