CHECKING THE STRIKER. SECRET BALLOTS DEMANDED. (Received 8.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Mr. G. S. Beeby, Minister of Labour, in a speech outlined pending industrial legislation and proposed drastic measures dealing with unions in possession ot awards who strike. The unions may register under the Act or keep outside. If they follow the latter course they must give reasonable notice to the Industrial Department before striking. The arbitration laws must be enforceable and regulated by secret ballots for unions on grave issues, and control union entrance fees.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
