RUSSIANS SINK FOUR TORPEDO-BOATS.

ENEMY WARSHIPS KEPT OUT OF OESEL CHANNEL LAND FORCES DRIVEN SOUTH EASTWARDS. * (Received 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, October 14. A Russian official message says:—Wo repulsed an attempt to capture a pier on Moem Island, in tho Gulf of Riga. Fighting on Oesel Island continues, the enemy pressing us back in a south-easterly direction. The Germane continued their disembarkation on Saturday under the protection of very large naval forces. Simultaneously several ships engaged the shore batteries on Pago Island. Our batteries sank four torpedo-boats, and an enemy cruiser grounded. German gunfire destroyed the battery, enabling a small detachment to land, but they were unable to maintain the. position and returned to the ships. Since yesterday morning our ships have prevented the enemy entering the waters between Dago and Oesel islands. Our torpedo-boats in the Baltic destroyed eleven schooners. A German official message says:—We are now advancing south-west on Oesel Island. The towns of Zerel and Arensburg are on fire.—(Admiralty, per Wireless.)
