MILLION POUND SWINDLE

: FOUR BELGIANS ARRESTED. LONDON, October ". The "Daily Mail - ' prints a hitherto unpublished story to the effect that four Belgians were arrested in London months ago on a charge of swindling the Belgian Government. It is alleged that the amount involved is £1,000,000. and the operations took place while they were engaged in connection with the regairing in London of motor-lorries for the Belgian army, used by virtue of a. special convention between the British and Belgian Governments. The prisoners were transferred to Calais, where they were tried by Courtmartial. They have, however, appealed to the highest Belgian Court, which does not sit nowadays, so that the appeal stands in abeyance.

The accused have been released on £10.000 bail.
