PAINTER BANKRUPT.

m —■ Thomas Morrison, painter, of Opotiki, has filed a petition to be adjudicated a bankrupt. His schedule showed unsecured creditors £272 15/1, and assets totalled £13. of which £3 was book debts. In a statement furnished to the Official Assignee, bankrupt states that he had carried on business as a painter at Opotiki. In the year 1914 he was contractor for all painting work at the post oflice building at Opotiki. He lost over fIOO by that contract. After the declaration of war there ivas practically no work in painting for about eighteen months. During that time he did not earn enough to keep his home going. His son enlisted in January, 1916, and was killed in action last June.
