POLITICAL PRISONERS IN AUSTRIA.
MANY THOUSANDS LIBERATED AFTER TERRIBLE PRIVATIONS. (Received 1 p.m.) ZURICH, September 3. The number of political prisoners released in Austria under the Imperial decree is estimated at between 60,000 and 200,000. It has been revealed that a, large number of Slavs were incarcerated without trial and imprisoned in prisons, where they suffered from lack of food and terrible privations. Thousands emerged mere skeletons, and many were carried from prison to hospital, and one man had to have Doth legs amputated owing to frozen feet, caused by neglect lof the prison doctor.— (A. and N.Z.)
