TAXATION OF SPORTS.

CHRISTCHURCH, his day. , At the annual meeting of the Canter- . bury Cricket Association the following i motion was carried: "That this meeting i 1 is strongly of opinion that it is inadvis- j ; able that taxation of any kind should be , - imposed on any grounds held for the i ; furthering of amateur sports; that t?ie - balance-sheet of every club associated j with this Association shows that no extra ; burden can be borne; and the Association i trusts that the sole purpose of the carry- •> ing on of these grounds is that our boys f shall find on their return that we have, ' as far as possible, preserved their sports ■' for them."
