Mr. Field asks ■whether the Board has yet inquired into the reason why bacon is being retailed in Wellington at 1/3 to 1/li per II).. whereas farmers are understood to be receiving not more than (id per pound for their baconer pige, and at the same time relinquishing all their byproducts. The member draws attention to a pamphlet issued by a co-operative bacon company in which appears a statement by a director indicating- that one of the objects of the company is to limit tht supply of bacon on the New Zealana market to a quantity which may be considered suflicient for that market, ana to ship the surplus green to England.
