Recently in the limine Mr. Noswurthy asked whether the Prime Minister or Sir Joseph Ward eoiild refute the statemi-nt made by n lltuuan I'atholic priest at Waercirja-n-hika. near Gisborne. on .Sunda v. July -'■>■ tn his congregation, after the celebration of mass, that "when Mr. Massey mid Sir Jcwej.b Ward were in England they Mere interviewed by Bishop Clear}', and gave him their promise that tbe Marist Brothers would not be coilscripted.' - Mr. Massey. in reply to the question, denied that such a promise had been given.
