AUCKLANDERS DECORATED.

MILITARY MEDALS AWARDED. The following are amongst those soldiers who were recently awarded Military Medals for acts of gallantry m the field. DRIVER M. C. FARRINGTON. Driver M. C. Farrington has seen service both in France and on the Peninsula. He was born in India 41 years a»o and later came to New Zealand, where, until 1913, he was farming at L-vin He then took up business as a motor importer at Auckland, and. in 1915 enlisted, and was given the ran* ot corporal. Subsequently he was attached to the Army Service Corps as driver of a motor ambulance. SERGEANT H. E. FRICKER. Sergeant H. E. Fricker left with the Main Body of the Expeditionary Force, and, after sen-ing four months )n Galllpoli, was invalided to England. He went on tour with the New Zealand football team at Home, and was then drafted to France. Sergeant Fricker is 32 years of age, and is the youngest son of Mrs. W. Fr.cker, of Pieton Street. SERGEANT L. J. POFF. Sergeant L. J. Poff, who was born in Canterbury, enlisted with the Divisional Signal Company when war first broke out. While he" lived in Auckland Sergeant Poff was an enthusiastic volunteer, being a particularly good marksman. He was also a member of the University Hockey Club. SERGEANT P. G. MILiJGAN. Sergeant P. G. Milligan enlisted with the Medical Corps in the Main Body, and has seen service in Egypt, Gallipoli, and France. Before the war he belonged to the Territorial Field Ambulance in Auckland. LANCE-CORPORAL R. A. MUNT. Lance-Corporal Reginald A. Munt belongs to Wellington. He joined the Divisional Signallers when the Main Body ■was mobilised, and went through the major portion of the Gallipoli campaign. He has been with the Forces in France since the first New Zealand draft arrived tnere. ITALIAN DECORATIONS. FIVE NEW ZEALANDERS, (By Telegraph.— i Press lAasocdation.) WELLINGTON, tins day. The following five soldiers of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces and one officer of the Royal llying Corps have had awards conferred upon them, as under:— Order Crown of Italy, silver medal for military valour: — Senond-Lieut. Geoffrey Gordon Callender, R.F.C.—Next of "kin W. Callender, Bank of New Zealand. Welßngton. Temp. Lieut. Mervyn Roy Walker, 2nd Battalion, C.LR.—Thos. Walker, Dunedin. Corporal Francis Roy Martin, N.Z. Pioneer Battalion —Mrs. C A. Martin, Wyndham. Private Henry Benny, 2nd Battalion Otago I.R.—Mrs. H. Benny, Broadfield, Canterbury. Private Samuel Jqhn Patterson. No. 2 I. Patterson, Vermont Street. Auckland. Private Cecil Miller Wells, 2nd Battalion Wellington Regiment —J. Wells. Madras Street, Christehurch. AH except Callender are still on active service.
