COST OF LIVING.
Railway officers appeal. The Auckland branch of the New Zealand Hallway Officers' Institute held an extraordinary meeting at Auckland station on Saturday evening last to the question of the cost of living. A very representative attendance was present, and members expressed their keen interest in this vital question. A letter was received, from the executive comrniUeo. advising the hraiich that the Actin,' Premier i-i r .j iunes Allen) had informed, the Mate Servants' Association that he regretted the (iovcrnment was unable to afford any relief. The t.ranch desires it to be distinctly Understood by the public that the i-.ii'l-officers would prefer the Government to deal with the problem ot the cost of living in order that all sections of the community might benefit, and to this end the .State servants of the Dominion desire the public support.
