TRAGEDY OF THE CAMPS. LONDON. June 27. Details have reach Salonika concerning the shocking treatment of Serbian prisoners in Austria and Hungary. Twenty-four thousand have died from typhoid fever in the concentration camps at Malthausen and Nazyinager. in Hungary. A few thousand survivors at Iliencsgrucne. in Bohemia, arc suffering from tifberculosis and other diseases. The largest number are interned at Caohaek, which is the depot for the labour battalions on the Italian front. Special trains periodically bring back wounded and exhausted men and take out fresh batches. There have been 20.000 deaths at Cachaek during the la*,t six months. Frightfully emaciated prisoners, clad in a few raos. can tie seen daily fighting in the refuse heaps like famished -boasts for the possession of scraps of food and bones. On March IS 108 r-erbians (were frozen to death in a single hut. Dead and dying are thrown into huge graves, and the bodies are covered with quicklime.
