TERRITORIAL COMMISSIONS.
OFFICEBS CALLED UP. -SPECIAL CAMP TRAINING. Following the calling up. some time ago, of those in the First Division of the reserve holding commissions in the Territorial forces, an order has now been issued from headquarters, which reads as follows: — " The territorial officers concerned will be called up In two quotas, the first cpiota to report in Trentham camp on .July 24, and tne second quota to report on August 21. The first quota will he drawn from respective districts as follows:—Auckland 20. Wellington 4, Canterbury 15, Otago ti: total 45. "On arrival in camp all officers to whom this applies will be posted to a special class with the probationary rank of second lieutenant, and will be paid in that ranis: as from the date they report in camp. They will then undergo a specified period of training, and at the end of that period 30 vacancies for appointment as second lieutenants in the Expeditionary Force will be open to qualifying candidates. Unsuccessful candidates will revert to such rank as is recommended by the camp commandant.
'' Successful candidates will be appointed as second lieutenants to vacancies in outgoing reinforcements, and will take seniority as second lieutenants among themselves in the order of their qualifications. Unsuccessful candidates will be allotted to reinforcements as necessary, and will be granted the same facilities for promotion as other members of their drafts.
" Officers of the New Zealand Forces Motor Service Corps, temporary officers and probationary officers are not eligible for appointment as officers to the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and to such these orders do not therefore apply. It is to be clearly understood that only officers belonging to the First Division of the Reserve are eligible to compete for the 30 vacancies referred to."
