EGG-LAYING COMPETITION
The seventh week of the Auckland Poul-try-keepers' Association's egg-laying competition concluded on Monday last. There was a marked iiuprovemeut in the laying of the heavy breed section, though climatic conditions were unfavourable. The weekly total of 946 eggs from the 46 pens showed an improvement on the previous week. The grand aggregate now stands al 4114 eggs. The leading weekly totals are:— Light. As a sequel to a disturbance on a Devonport ferry boat on the evening of May 19, which resulted in a man going overboard, three men came before Mr. E. C. Cutten. S.M.. to-day. Robt. MeClure Rao. who had fallen overboard, was charged with a breach of tlie peace and of his prohibition order, and Ben Keedy and Reutena Toherere, two Maori soldiers, were charged, respectively, that they assaulted Harry Grange and John F. King. The case was part heard and then adjourned till next Thursday. For tbe Red Triangle appeal Thames required t'SOO. To-day a cheque was transmitted from Auckland nearly double the stipulated sum.
