ROLL OF HONOUR.

UNVEILED AT AVONDALE. Some 200 Avondale residents assembled in the Avondale Town Hall last night to assist Air. (.'. .1. Parr. M.l', for Eden, in unveiling a roll of honour of members of Star of Avondale. No. G3, 1.0.0. F. Noble Grand Bro. R. Ward occupied tbe chair, and in a forcible speech stated that out of a membership of 78 Lodge Star of Avondale had sent 34 of its members to fight for their King and country. It was his groat pleasure to state that the Lodge at the present moment did not contain one man who was eligible for tho front. Out of the 34 bravo lads who had gone to the front it was bis sad duty to say that four had given their lives, viz.. \V. E. Vauso, L. Ryan. I'\ A. C'rurum, and K. ("'. KliiMiuiu. Bro. Ward also stated that at the next installation of the Lodge two brothers who had been to the front and done their duty were to he installed into the two highest positions of the Lodge. -Mr. Harry sang "Till the Hoys Conic Home," tho audience joining in the chorus. Air. Parr said he was proud to bo 'with them, first because us their member of the House of Representatives, and secondly because bo also was an Oddfellow. Ho was proud of the groat record Star of Avondale Lodge had put up -a record than which there wan none better iv tho Dominion. Mr. Parr thou unveiled the roll of honour, all standing. District Orand Master Bro. Cooper addressed the brethren and audience. He skid he waa glad to do honour to tho bravo men whose names were bi-foro him. Friendly societies throughout the Dominion totalled (WOO members: Oddfellows had sent upwards of 1000 men to the front, and in Auckland alone 230 men had been sent. Bro. Neville, A. Blomlev. A. D. Curd. CORPORAL 11. W. SOMMERVILLE. Corporal Horace W. .Sommervillc, reported wounded and admitted to hospital, is the son of the Rev. R. Sommerville, of Rose Road, Grey Lynn. He is 30 years of age, and prior to enlisting with the Eighteenth Reinforcements was on the clerical staff of the Auckland City Council Treasury Department. He is one of three brothers who have been on active service during the present war, his two other brothers having boon wounded and invalided back to New Zealand. TAYLOR. Rifleman Rowland Taylor, reported wounded, is the second son of Mrs. J. Taylor, of Pukekolie. Prior to enlisting he was engaged in his trade as cabinetmaker at Whangarei. This is the third lime Rifleman Taylor has been wounded. Ho has two brothers on active service, one being in hospital in England, while the other brother, who was wounded at Gullipoli, is in France. PRIVATE 11. S. AKERSTEN. Private 11. S. Akersten (died of wounds) was the second son of Mrs. W. H. Elliott, of Shelly Beach Road. He was born at Nelson, and prior to enlisting with the Fifteenth Reinforcements was in the employ of Messrs. J. J. Craig. Private Akersten comes from a fighting stock, his grandfathers having served iv the Indian .Mutiny, Crimea and Maori wars. He was 33 years of age, and loaves a wife and four young children, residing at 29, Haydcn Street, City. PRIVATE J. A. BURTON. Private .). A. Burton (reported severely wounded In the left arm) is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Burton, Sclwvn Street, Onehunga. He is 25 years of pge, and prior to enlisting was on the permanent staff ol' the New Zealand Railways. PRIVATK T. ERNEST. Private T. Finest (died of wounds) was the youngest son of Mr. T. Ernest, of Onehunga. He was bom in tho Bay of Plenty, and educated at the Auckland Grammar School. On leaving school he joined the stall' of the National Bank, Onehunga. Private Frnest took great interest in the Scout movement, and was Acting-Scoutmaster of St. Milan's troop. He left with the Sixteenth Reinforcements, being attached to the Lewis machine-gun section. He has another brother on active service, while his sister is nursing in France. PRIVATE X. HARVEY. Private Nelson Harvey, who ',111s been dangerously wounded in action, left with the Eighteenth Reinforcements, but was subsequently drafted to the machine-gun section iv the loth Waikatos. His wife I nee Miss Hewitt | resides at Northcote A\urd has just been received that his brother ( Private Alex. Harvey). who also went away with tin- Eighteenth Reinforcements, has been wounded. PRIVATE R. K. OBUGLIEN. Private Raymond Edward Obuglien. who was recently killed in action in France (no date given), was educated at the Alarist Bros.' school. He was a seaman for some years, being engaged on coastal steamers with the N.S.S. Co. He left with the Fourteenth Reinforcements, and soon after arrival in France was transferred to the Sixth llaurakis. His latest letters showed him to be serving with a Lewis machine-gun, and he would no doubt be engaged in that branch at the time af his death. On the day that communication was received respecting his death (June 17) he would have been 21 years of age. RIFLEMAN HUGH ELLIOTT. Rifleman Hugh Elliott, killed in action on June 3rd. was III) years of age. and was born at Opotiki, fifth son of the late Samuel Elliott and Mrs. Harriet Elliott, of " Tawtriti " farm, Opotiki. He was educated at the Public School, Opotiki, where he was engaged in farming until 1010. when he joined his brother in farming at Tamaki and at Rototuna. Hamilton. In 1016 he volunteered and joined the Rifle Brigade, leaving New Zealand as n member of the Fifteenth Reinforcements. His two brothers. William (South Africa), and George (Franco 1. arc also members of the British Forces. _~.._._.

LIECT. A. J. BEEHAN. Hon. W. Beehan, of Auckland, has heen notified that his elder son, Lieut. Anselm Jerome -Beehan was wounded on June 9th, two days after his brother. Private Kyrle Beehan. Lieut. Beehan enlisted in the 7th Reinforcements, going into Trentham Camp in June, 1915. when much sickness prevailed. Early in the July of that year, with 27 of his platoon, he contracted measles, and after his recovery he joined the 9th N.C.O.'s. rising to the rank of sergeant. Later he was transferred to the 11th draft, in which he gained his commission, and was posted to the 13th Reinforcements, going through the Somme battle. He was educnted at the Marist Brothers' school and the Auckland Grammar School, lie was a good allround athlete. Before enlisting he was on the staff of the New Zealand Consolidated Dental Co. He is 22 vcars of age.
