THE TAKAPUNA SERVICE.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—May I be allowed to add a word or two to the protest made by "Disgusted" in your issue of Monday last, re the curtailment in the Takapuna tramway and ferry service? My friend "Disgusted." however, only mentioned the menfolk who will be inconvenienced by this action of the company. All the drapery and grocery establishments, as well as "many other lines of trade close at 3.30. and should the 5.45 boat be suspended, it means that several girls, and women too, will have to wait on the wharf till 0.15. This is something to look forward to during the winter months. 1 quite agree with the gentleman who wrote the letter above mentioned, that the Vompany only cater for the "tripper." and those who keep the wheels going all the year round are the last, to be considered. The one great drawback to folks coming to live at Takapuna is the tram and boat service even at its best.—l am, etc., ROUSED.
