SUGAR DEARER.

INCREASE OF £0. A TON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Minister for Commerce, the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald. states that the Government has entered into a fresh arrangement with the Colonial Sugar Refining Company for another year at an increase of £1 per ton. The present arrangement expires at the end of this month.

An arrangement with the Colonial Sugar Company was made by the Government in 1915 by which the wholesale price was fixed at £21 a ton. This agreement was renewed last year for a further term of 12 months as from July 1 last.
