GORSE IN HENDERSON.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Jt will no doubt toe a shock to many people, to know that gorse is growing in the Waitemata County under the direct patronage of the Council. Recently in Henderson the residents, with the help of the engineer, mapped out an area of about 1500 acres, and by a petition signed by 90 per cent of the ratepayers affected, asked the Council to declare gorse in bhat portion a noxaoue weed. The Council upheld the petition in May Jaet, but failed to uphold their effort at the June meeting, evidently being under the impression that gorse was a necessary fodder plant in thencounty.—l am, etc., A. HUMPHREYS. Henderson.
