Judge Sim and assessors have been engaged four days hearing a compensation case concerning the an_Ktnt lo be paid by the Ohai Railway Hoard to the Wairio Coal Company in connection with Ihe resumption of ihe latter's railway. The company claimed £40.1iH0. Much expert evidence was taken. The Court awarded £19,080. As the amount awarded i.s less than half that claimed each party pays its own cost*. Messrs Adams and Russell appeared for the claimants and Messrs Solomon and Siacalister for the Department.
