ST. JOHN'S
The thirty-fifth anniversary of St. John's Methodist Cbarch was celebrated with special service:; on Sunday. The morning service was conducted by Rev. C. H. Laws, B.aL, who preached an inspiring sermon to a lnr-re congregrtion. The service in the afternoon was devoted chiefly to special musical items. Anthems and quartets were rendered by the choir, an.l sdlo? rendered by Miss Lanra Stone and Mr G. Pooi-e (Hnir!. In the evening the church was crowded, and Her H. E. BellhOiise (pastor of the --nnrch) preached a special sermon. Special music was again rendered by the choir under the baton of Mr R. 11. lforsley. and tbe solo was taken by Miss O. George. The . organ mnsic was efficiently rendered by Mr H. E. S'ramonils. After the service the cpnzrec-" lon remained tor n few mtnntes and ppssed a resolution iirciD'*' the CJovernmcjit to consider the Jici* visabflity of closing all hotel bars during the currency of the war; failing this, that they be closed at G j>.m.
