The quarterly meeting of the Public Service Superannuation Board granted tanual allowances totalling £4,287, [ranted to 23 contributors retired. Unler section 35 six retired men medically Bfit were granted allowances aggregatfag £389. Sixteen widows were granted ttatufcory allowances totalling £522. A policeman retired medically unfit, as the result of injuries received in the execution of duty, was granted an additional iflowance. In consequence of retireBents under section 35, accrued compensation, amounting to £10,376 beame a liability of the superannuation hmd. The amount at credit of the bud on April 30th was £956,226, an increase of £126,732 on the year. METHODS OF APPOINTMENT. regulations connected with tppointments to the Public Service are published in this week's " Gazette." "ApNntoients," says the new rule, " will be made according to the order of merit In the list of applicants who have passed file Entrance Examination.
