Southern nnd Australian ports, via Pitcairn Island, with mails for the island, and this sailing inaugurates a regular service for the Islai.->i*rs. The last vessel to arrive in Auckland land, via Pitcairn. brought news of the launching of a schooner by the inhabitants. They had cut their own timber, beaten their own nafls. and prepared all the material used in the construction of the boat. The vessel had left for another island, and the owners were becoming anxious as no news of her had bee:' received, though it is hardly likely that anything has interfered with her progress as the weather there is at the present time fairly calm.
