AUCKLAND SOCIETY OF ARTS.
The council of the Society of Artsmet last evening, and got through a considerable amount of business in regard to their forthcoming exhibition of work* of art, which opens at the end of the month. A lot of detail work had to be arranged, and deficiencies produced in the staff of exhibition assistants due to enlistment for the war had to be considered. Owing to the continuous use of the gallery by the musical societies extra labour is entailed. All matters in connection with the opening night were dealt with, and several new members were elected. Already word has been received from the South as to consignments of picturebeing sent. After passing the monthaccount, the meeting closed.
