ESCAPE FROM GAOL.
I, s PRISONER CLIMBS WAIL. g POLICE IN PURSUIT. h (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) U WELLINGTON, this day. t John. D<yne, who was sentenced to a five years in August last year for t assault on a gM escaped from Terrace a Gaol on Saturday morning. It is surt mised that he succeeded in. making- his way to the wall and climbed over. His c absence was not immediately noticed. Inquiries disclosed that lie was seen in Brooklyn. Police and detectives were dispatched to try and trace the runaway, and the country between Terawhiti and Brooklyn is being scoured. It appears that the man was able to change his prison garb coon after leaving the prison. How this was accomplished is not known, but it is .rumoured he stuck up a man and forced him to part with hie coat. The convict, up to' the present, is still at large.
