Z. The Chauvinist "Tagllcbe Ruhdschau" '- criticises the Allies* reply ■to the German. 8 Peace Note, concluding Its ■ article as ~ follows:— :" . -We have asked for the peaceful ter- !•' mlnation of_thls war.' which we have not [ desired, and for which we made no pree parations. After the refusal which--we : have experienced we must, to adopt a Clausewttz's warning, sunder... ourselves 1 from the childish hope that we can exorll else the rage of a tyrant by voluntary i* disarmament. y- "England can only be conquered by J. might, never by arrangement or negotia- ,- tlon. England is the world-tyrant, which d has led the nations into this war, and }• which alone maintains the continuance of "' the war until she has accomplished her :t object—the final ■ removal of a dangerous '• competitor. It Is England we must make _ to suffer if we are to have peace. But !: in order to do this, to again adopt a senr fence of Clausewitz, we must liberate ourj selves from an unreasoning want of confidence in the powers which God has given ~ us. Hitherto we have stood up against a I' world of enemies. Whether they will or I. not, we shall compel them to reason. And '• God will continue to be with us."
