ACADEMICIAN'S DEATH.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable. Association.) (Received 11.02 a.m.) LONDON, February 12. Obituary, Mr. J. W. Waterhouse, R.A. Mr. J. W. Waterhouse was a wellknown painter of mythological and classical subjects, and a few of his pictures have been purchased for the nation. He was elected A.R.A. in 1885, and H.A. in 1895. His best-known picture deall with the old Greek story of Hylas and the water nymphs.
