About the middle of this month In. spector Edward Wilson, in charge ot -fche' Wanganui police district, •will retire on superannuation, and as a dfetinction for his long and honourable service, tho •Minister in Charge of the Police Force (Hon. A. L. Herdanan) has granted him the honorary rank of Superintendent.. The retiring officer is 64 years of age, and has 46 years of service to his credit. He will retire on leave, which expires in August. He has held his present position since Mhy, 1907. (Prior to that he -was a sub-inspector in Auckland, whence he was to Wellington as eub-inspectoir in He became an inspector, and took charge of Greymouth district in March, 1902, and was transferred, to Wanganui five years later.
