MELBOURNE, February 8. The Treasury reports, for half-year ended December 31, a heavy increase in expenditure, which amounted -to £49,875,519, against £28,500,996 for the same period of 1915. War expendi' ture, paid from loan moneya, rose from £4,300,000 to £20,939,331.
