RISING SUN RETURN. The battery manager reports for the month of January as follows:—"Crushed 227 tons ore for £590 2/10; cyanided 173 tons for £277 8/7; making a*-total of £867 11/5, which works out at aa A. average of £3 15/9 per ton."

CONSOLIDATED GOLD FIELDS. ;?

The annual report of the Consolidated Gold Felds, Ltd., of South Africa., -shcma dividends, profits, etc., £461,379, as compared with £323,246, but as last year 1 £97,142 was deducted for depreciation, the real comparison is £461,379 odd for the present year, and £420,000 odd last year, an increase this year of nearly £41,000. The sum of £232,264 odd Sad to be deducted as depreciation of investments. Of that £45,000 was due to writing off certain doubtful loans. '"A 'A new charge was income tax in South Africa. The sum of £426,562 odd wis invested by the company in Treasury 1 bills. The sum of £231,740 •*_ left to deal with, out of which £150,006 wai:. paid in dividends.
