I Potatoes are rising in England. Before the ivar 1/- ivould buy 241b of the best lotatoes. 18Ib last year; now 1/- will rmly purchase about Tibs. The "Daily Mail" points out that the cost of growing potatoes under present conditions doe 3 not exceed £16 or £17 an. acre. An average acre crop is abouti seven tons, for-:which - the farmer demands a price now nearly £10 a ton. The Government ought to fix a reasonable price for potatoes—for exaarple, £6 a ton. ~ 3j~
