A CLEVER DEFENCE.
BUT NOT CLEVER ENOUGH. <By Telegraph.—'Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. K. R. VYilliams was charged on remand with having made a seditious speech. He eaid he would oppose conscription as long as he had a tongue in his head. He was an internationalist, and wae opposed to war, and would always fight against it. Mr. Bailey, S.M., said the defence was clever, but the speech came under the regulations. He would sentence Williams to twelve months.
