SIR F. BORDER SEAS. [i|| (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.! (Received 11.10 a.m.) OTTAWA, January 7. The death is announced of Sir Predkw Borden, ex-Minister for Militia. Sir Frederick William Borden wai born in Canada in 1847, and began' to practice medicine in 1868. He received a Medical Army Corps appointment, and became an honorary surgeon-general in the Imperial Army in 1911. He was first elected to the Canadian House of Com- . mons in 1874, and joined the Laurier Ministry in 1896 a3 Minister for Militia, holding that post till 1911.
