SHOOTING AFFAIR.
ONE MAN IN HOSPITAL.
ANOTHER MAX UNDER ARREST.
(Special to " Star.")
WAXGANUI, this day.
A sensational shooting affray is reported to have occurred on Saturday night at Marton, but particulars so far are surrounded with a certain amount of mystery. It appears that a man named Robert Elder went to the house of Stephen Fisher, a returned soldier, and, it is alleged, endeavoured to effect an entry. It is alleged also that Fisher seized a shot-gun and discharged its contents, striking the unwelcome visitor iri the buttock and inflicting painful injuries. The matter was reported to the Marton police, and the wounded man was removed to Wanganui Hospital, where he is progressing as favourably as can be expected, serious complications not being anticipated. Fisher was arrested by the police, and the whole affair will be investigated at the Magistrate's Court.
