A meeting of the North Auckland Executive and Development Board was held lin the Whangarei' County Chambers, lar.t (night, there feeing present Colonel Allen Bell (chairman), Meaere. Vernon Reed, A. E. Harding, E. Harding. B. Coleman, J. D. McKenzie, and A. C. Yarborough. Colonel Bell reported that with Mr. Vernon Reed he had addressed meetings in a large number of district* throughcut the northern peninsula. The scheme was meeting with a splendid reception from the majority of the local bodies and settlers He expressed the gratitude of the executive to the public-spirited assistance given by the Auckland Automobile Association, who in supplying 30 motor cars, were rendering service to ths value of £2,000, which alone tnade the tour possible. The hueutees men of Auckland had also contributed £500. From the feeling evinced throughout the North he felt sure that the Development Board would have a long and useful career, by agitating for the opening up of idle Crown and Native lande. The construction of roads and Tailways ■would in a few years be the means of attracting a large number of settlers to occupy thousands of acres of good land in the northern peninsula, which were at present to a large extent unnoticed. The following itinerary for the Parliamentary tour was decided on:— Leave Auckland 16th January to Warkworfch. remain there overnight, thence via Maungaturoto, and Waipu to Whangarei, arriving 17th, leaving for the Bay of Islands 19th, remaining overnight, thence Mangonui to Kaitaia 21st, remaining overnight, a tonr of the Ninety Mile Beach on 22nd, thence to Hokianga 23rd, leaving for Kaikohe on 25th, remaining, at Kaikofce overnight, thence via Mangakahia Valley to Dargaville 26th, leaving for Port Albert, via Raupo, Ruawai, and Paparoa on the 2Sth, remaining at. Port Albert overnight, thence to Helensville 29th, remaining there overnight, to Auckland, via Huapai and Titirangi, arriving in Auckland 30th, when the Government steamer Hinemoa will pick up the party and take them to places of interest round the Gulf. It ie estimated thai at least 120 visitors will take part in the tour. .A list was compiled of prominent Southern farmers and business men to whom invitations are to be eeht, and also to representatives of the provincial newspapers throughout the Dominion!
