Boss,- was received, and Mr Grayden, . vice-president, waa elected to fill the valcancy. "A communication was received from Mr I.- B. Arthur, Harbour Board , member for the district, covering sketch plana of proposed* lm--8 ptovement to" the landing, at Kalpatlki " and the .Board Engineer's, recoin- • mendation of the best means ot making the > lading useful to the settlers. " As sug--1 gested by Mr Hamer, the wharf is to be t formed at Freem's Point, where ' there _ * sufficient depth of water to be available r for launch service " at half tides. The s scheme, entails the extension'of the Kai--7 patlki Road for "a few" chains of rather 1 difficult formation, but it Is understood > that a Government grant is available -t or the purpose, and a deputation was appointed to interview the County Council Engineer, Mr Day (the member for the riding), and Mr Harris, M.P., : in order ,to be .able, to assure the Harbour Board that - there-would be no delay'-.'with-"'.the. formar tion of the approach to make the wharf i practicable.' It was also pointed out that - it would be of great Interest to Birkdale i to get the creek bridged, when they would -'be in a position to secure the bene&ts of »vthe proposed wharf for their aide ot the t _reek. There was some discussion over -.the meagreness of the Information supplied 51 by 'the County Council in" regard to s finances, ami it was resolved: "That"Owe - secretary be instructed to endeavour, to get -I.lntb touch with other ratepayers' associali tions throughout the country in order-to . consider tbe question of lessening, exr penses, and of getting official Information t; as to the finances of the riding and of 5 the county."
