The amount paid by the Board was 7/6 a week, whlcn was below the minimum, rates of cost to the Department, which ranged from 8/ a , /week for boarding out (with extra cost for outfit, medical attention and supervision), to 10/ a week for boarding Infants, and up to 20/ a week for delicate children. The Department had decided to make the minimum cost to the hoards 10/ a week, and to allow contributions recovered from parents, etc., to nceumnlate until the chnu ceased to be a charge oh the Government, and then to refund to the Board whatever] may be left to Its credit between tnei amounts recovered and the minimum of 10/1 a week. Mr Neraeny siatirg that it seemed to him that the effect of the proposals appeared to be au effort by the Department to ease its responsibilities at the expense of the Hospital Board.
