Mr. John Galsworthy, at the concluding meeting of the Conference on the National Life of the Allied Countries at Stratford-on-Avon, referring to the war settlement, advocated the establishment of a league of peace, backed by real force, and.declares that the Allied nations should consider the matter before the guns ceased roaring. Whatever were the terms of the peace that would come, peace would not last without a league to guarantee it, and we could not have such a league unices impartiality was its backbone and unless we were willing to accept its judgments in all matters and not merely when it suited us.
