JAPAN AND ITS PEOPLE.
On Tuesday evening in the Richmond Baptist Church, Grey Lynn, an intensely interesting and, instructive lantern lecture was given by the Rev. James Ing 3, entitled "Through Japan and Among the Japanese." Mr. F. V, Frazer, M.A., LLJ3., occupied the chair, and asociaied with him on the platform were Mr. E C. Cutten, S.M., and Mrs. Cutten, Mrs. Frazer, and Mr. J. Warnock. The chairman, in introducing the lecturer, spoke briefly of the great amount of interest centred in Japan at the present time. The views shown were unique and beautiful, showing, as they did, every phase of life in Japan. The lecturer threw a great deal of light on the life and customs of the Japanese, and by comparisons and figures* spoke of the awakening that has taken place there lately, ana the rapid growth of education, manufactures, and means of internal communication. During the evening Master Heaihwaite, boy-soprano, sang two soloe which were much appreciated.
