The Commonwealth and Dominion Line's steamer Port Napier arrived at AuCKiand yesterday afternoon, and berthed at the west side of the King's Wharf to put out cargo. She comes here from London via r Australian ports. The Port Napier was formerly the Hawke's.tßay, the new name being on ■ the decision of the company to maie "iPort " a general affix to the names of -their steamers. The weather throughout was fair, and nothing of interest happened during the voyage. Four passengers came by the Port Napier, .and before leaving here she will jput out about 1500 tons of general cargo. After working here the steamer leaves for Southern ports, Napieri. being her flret place of call. THE lOXIC. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner lonic, •with 'passengers and cargo from London, arrired liere last evening. She is discharging at the Queen's Wharf to-day, and will leave for Southern >ports in a lew days. TJSB SO.UTHEBN .CBOSS. The Melanesiau Mission steamer Southern ' Cross should arrive here in about a week's time from her trip among the islands in the mission field. The local office of the ■Melanesian Mission is awaiting advice of the steamer's arrival at Norfolk Island, en route to Auckland. When this newe is received, the exact time of nef arrival can ■be determined, it generally taking twee or four days for ler to come from the island. PASSENGERS FOR SOUTH.
