TYRE WIDTHS.

PROPOSED SUBURBAN SCALE. As a result' of the conference of representatives from suburban bodies at the Newmarket Borough Council Chambers yesterday afternoon to consider the adoption of a scale of -width for tyres, to embody in a uniform by-law for the various districts, a number of recommendations were arrived at' unanimously. The districts represented were Xewmarket, Mount Eden, Devonport, Onehunga, Mount Albert, One Tree Hill, and Epsom, and the following proposals were adopted: For two-wheeled vehicles, weighing, when loaded, one and a-half tons or under, 2*in; from one and a-half tons to three tons. 4*in. For fourwheeled vehicles, which, considering the weight of the vehicle and its load, have a. weight of one and a-half tons or less on each pair of wheels, 21in; from one and a-half tons to three tone, 3in; over three tons. 6in. It was further agreed to recommend these widths to the City Council for adoption, and not to enforce any by-laws embodying them until' January, 1917. The delegates all expressed the belief that the bodies tfliey represented would agree to the recommendations and incorporate them in their by-laws.
