The attitude of the Otic-tree 'HiH Road Board, as expressed at a meeting held laet niffht, is againet the amalgamation of the district with the city at present The chairman fMr. E. B. Macduff) said that he had. interviewed tiie Mayor, Mr. J. H. Guuson, in regard to tho matter, and it appeared that the latter was anxious that One-treo Hill district «hould come in with the city. Mr. H. Bobbie , eaid that the idea of amalgamation was ' premature, and in any case, it would not Ibe practicable to join until Newmarket had done bo. Ho remarked that if the city would set an example in roedmaking and administration there might then be some inducement. The chairman said that -he had told tho Mayor that the worst part of the Oreat South Road was controlled by the city. Mr. JL B. Mor- ' ton said that although amalgamation with the eiiy would bo inevitable, it was ( as yet premature. Many of tl»e city V»y- , Jaws would be out of place in rural dis I trieta.
