Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their head office, under date the 25th Inst.:— "Butter scarce and firm. Australian nominal, 182/; New Zealand, 185/; Danish, 204/. Cheese, firm. Canadian and New Zealand, 102/. DANGEROUS SURGERY. Death follows the surgeon's knife; not the surgeon's fault, of course —he .ant help it. You can. Doan's Ointment cures piles quickly, painlessly, without danger. People go along for yeare suffering from piles. Xhey can try this, that, and the other remedy, and even j;et treatment from a physician. They obtain
temporary relief, maybe, but they are never quite cured. A little strain in lifting, excessive fatigue, a little ct-nsti--pation, a touch of diarrhoea, and the piles come back. They don't amount.to much, but they banish sleep and appetite. No position is comfortable; ti-ere is intense local pain, and that drea-iful feeling of weight in the perineum. If the case be of long-standing, or if it be in the early stages, there is only onesure and lasting cure—Doan's Ointmert. Mr. E. J. Shemiit, 3, Totara Street, Ponsonby, Auckland, says: —"I can girs Doan's Ointment a splendid recorrmendation as a cure for itching piler, this preparation having completelrcured mc of this troublesome, complain' over two years ago. The pain and irritation I suffered were terrible, particularly at night and during the warm weather. I tried several pile remedies, hoping to find a cure, but none of them gave mc any permanent relief. At last I got Doan's Ointment, and after applying this regularly for a day or so the irritation began to cease, and by the time one pot was used, the piles had disappeared entirely, and I have had no return of the ailment since." Two years later Mr. Shemiit confirms the above and adds:—"My cure has proved a permanent one, for I have been free of the torture of piles since I used Doan's Ointment four years ago." When we say that Doan's Ointment. will cure piles, we mean exactly what we say, nothing more or less, and we are able to make this emphatic statement backed by such evidence as the above. Doan's Ointment is sold by all chemists and storekeepers at 3/ per pot, or will be posted on receipt of price by FosterMcClellan Co., 76,'. Pitt-Street-, Sydney.; But, be sure you get DOAN'S." «
The demand that in view, of tile scarcity of firemen, certain men in -custody, at the Rotoroa Inebriates' Home should be released for service on oceangoing steamers, was acceded to this week in the case of four men needed for the steamer Leitrim, which left port to-day. The release of the four men was secured by Hon. R. McNab, Minister for Marine, and.they .were put aboard the vessel before she" sailed. Needless to say, all four expressed their hearty approval of the arrangement, one claiming that he had lost three stone in weight upon the Island.
