Fire broke out in a building at St. Mary's Home, Great South Road, Otahuhii. The Otahuhu Fire Brigade (directed by Captain John Wilson) were quickly on the scene, and the fire was soon extinguished, very little damage being done. The Fire Brigade have had a fire bell for some months, but it is not yet erected, and thr English Church bell "has been occasionally used to givo an alarm.
