DILWORTH TRUST AND PARK.
A TRUSTEE'S PROTEST,
A vigorous protest has been sent to Wellington by Archdeacon Mac Murray, one of the members of the Dilworth Trust Board, concerning the clause in tho "Washing-up Bill" which empowers the Board to convey to the Auckland City Council 25 acres of the slopes of Mount Hohson for ttie purposes of a public -park.
"I have strongly protested against this clause, which I was extremely surprised to see inserted in the 'Washing-up Bill,'" said the Archdeacon to a "Star" reporter this morning, "firstly, .because no resolution of the trustees had ever been passed asking for the clause; secondly, because it has been done without the knowledge of a number of the trustees behind their backs; thirdly, because it takes away the right of a minority of the trustees to have the question judicially dealt with by a Parliamentary Committeee which would call evidence on such a proposal; and lastly, because in my opinion it is a dangerous invasion of a great charitable trust to deal with such a, question by such a process as the Washing-up Bill.' I have protested to the Premier and to leading members of Parliament against the proposal."
