FRIENDLY SONS OF EMPIRE.
An incident related by Renter which lately occurred durlug the operations in East Africa shows the splendid spirit existing between the white and coloured troops operating under General Smuts. On {lib occasion 'or a , recent ttcclAß the I.hodeslan regiment and the Baluchis were engaged in covering the raoveuicnts of other oC our troops. The Rhodesians. on their return, were relieved as rearguard by the Daluchls. As the latter were likely to be hard pressed an niter of assistance was made, but the officer commanding the Bnluchis considered that lie could himself <lc:il with the situation, which lie dirt most successfully. On the following day the Italncul regiment was officially informed of. the Uhodesians' offer of support, whereupon the officers, rank ami file of the Indinii regiment sent the-following letter to tlie otlioers. rank and file of the Ithodesian regiment:— •■ Respected Sir,—We, the Indian officers and rank and file of the Baiuchis, having been told this morning by our commanding officer when we fell in on parade that your regiment had requested'the general to permit you to come to our assistance yesterday when we were surrounded by the enemy, pay our best and hearty thanks for this sympathetic act of kindness.', Wo hope in futnre that we may all remain side by side, and pray our heavenly ■Father for the victory of our Government. Cod grant it may be soon."
