CAREERS OF THE FALLEN. LIELT. ATHOL HUDSON. A Press Association telegram from Nelson states that word has been received that Lieut. Athol Hudson, son of th«" late Dr. Hudson and Mrs. Hudson, of Tapawera, has been killed in action. Lieut. Hudson was an old boy of Nelson College, and Waitaki High School.

He was selected as the 1015 Rhode l ) Scholar from Victoria College, Wellington. PRIVATE JOHN J. MILLER. Mr. Thomas Miller, of 40, Anglesea Street, has received word from the Chaplain of the Forces. Cairo, that his nephew (Private John James Miller), who left New Zealand with the 10th Reinforcements, is ill in hospital with enteric fever. PRIVATE ROBERT A. CAFFERY. Private Robert A. CafTery. who was reported missing on July 4, left with the main body, llith Waikatos. and was in the Suez Canal attack. He was in Gallipoli from the landing to early in August, when he was invalided to Malta with shock concussion. He was a bombthrower in France. Private Caffery was the third son of Mrs. Caffery, Melfordl Street, Ponsonby. His two brothers are now in France. He was employed in the engineering works of the Harbour Board prior to enlistment, and was a fine swimmer, winning the championship of his school. He was also an ex-member of the City Football Club. PRIVATE J. S. CARLYON. Private J. S. Carlyon, who was killed in action last week, was born in toromandel, and was in the Coromandel School Cadets. He completed his schooling at the Ponsonby school, Auckland. He passed as a first-class scout in St. Matthew's troop under Capt. Gordon Rust (Scoutmaster). He learned his trade as blacksmith and wheelwright in Gishorti", and was at his trade in Waiuku when he enlisted, anil left New Zealand with the Fifth Reinforcements in the Ist

Canterbury Infantry Battalion in June of last year. He was invalided to Cardiff. Wales, in September from Gallipoli. and then went back to Gallipoli early ill D'ecemh'T. and was there at the evacuation. He was only lit years , of age at the time of his death.
