English goods were immensely sought after in Italy, eaid Baron di San Severino at the London Chamber of Commerce on April 26, yet they were being ousted by German and Austrian goods. The reaeone for thie were the high price, often doable or treble the German; the insistence on the British monetary system; the use of English in correspondence; and the rarity and sometimes the ignorance of British commercial travellers.
