OBITUARY.
MR. JOHN TAYLOR. ! The death of Mr. John Taylor of Victoria Road, Devonport, which took place last night, has occasioned deep sorrow to his many friends. The deceased gentleman, who was born in New South Wales, came to New Zealand in 1863 during the Maori war. For 35 years he was in the employ of the Auckland Harbour Board, and gained the high esteem of his fellow-employees and the public fr c w y \,° n J september 2S of last year the late Mr. Taylor and his wife ceTe'7 brated their golden wedding, havin°- beon married at St. Matthew's Church Audc long, in 1866 by the Rev. E. N. Brec The widow of the deceased gentleman late William James and Caroline Wright of Auckland, and was bom in this town' in 1847, being therefore one of the few surviving coloniste of the forties. The late Mr Taylor who was 74 years of age at the time of his death, leaves a three sons, six daughters, and children to mourn their loss.
